Beginning with the very first phone call, we will work through a process to make sure you have a great experience and that you walk away with artwork and keepsakes that celebrate your family.  Here’s how it works…

I start every client project with a complimentary portrait consultation, either at my studio or at your home.  This meeting is a chance for us to get to know each other, after all, you’re hiring me, not my fancy camera.  During this initial meeting, we discuss the type of session you are looking for and what you plan to do with your portraits.  I will also show you product samples and answer any questions you may have regarding pricing.  There is no obligation to schedule a session following this consultation, but if you decide you would like to book a session, the session fee is required to reserve your date.  If you decide to book a session, we will continue the discussion and begin to plan your session.  It is helpful for me to know a little bit about the personalities of your family as well as the style of your home décor.  We will review location options and talk about what to wear on the day of your session.  Getting to know you and collecting all this information helps me design a session that captures the spirit of your family and reflects your personal style.

I offer both studio sessions and on location sessions in the Denver area.  Some clients prefer to be photographed in the comfort of their own home; many want to capture the beauty of Colorado with an outdoor session; others choose a session in at my professional, kid friendly studio. Sessions are usually about an hour, but I always schedule a little extra time so we are not rushed.  You never know when a toddler will need a snack or potty break, or a baby will need a diaper change.  I understand that life with kids is unpredictable because I am a mother too!  The most important thing is that your family is relaxed and has fun during the session, so that I can capture great images.  I have lots of silly games and surprises in my “bag of tricks” and everyone truly has fun at my sessions!  I’ll photograph a combination of spontaneous interactions as well as a few traditional poses so you have a nice variety of images to choose from.

About a week after your session, I will touch base and give you some “homework” to do.  I will ask you to think specifically about how you plan to display your favorite images and what other keepsakes and gifts you might want to order.  If you’re interested in a wall portrait or a collection, I will ask you to take snapshots of different walls in your home (phone snapshots are fine) and take a few measurements.  Many clients ask me to stop by their home to help them with this process and I am more than happy to!   No one likes homework, but it really makes the viewing and ordering process a lot easier.  You’ll thank me later!

About 3 weeks after your session, you will come to the studio for your image review and order appointment.  We will start with a presentation of the images.  I only present the best images from your session, typically about 18-25 images.  We will look at the images in color, black & white and/or sepia depending on your preferences.  Then we will review your homework and you will select your favorite images for the products that you plan to order.  I will warn you, it is usually not easy (of course this means I have done my job capturing the personality of your kids or family!), but that is why we do it together at this appointment.  We can compare images side-by-side, and select images that compliment each other and tell the story of your family.  We will look at a virtual mockup of your favorite images on the walls of your home to make sure the final product is the right style and scale.  We will work together to create truly personal artwork and keepsakes with your images. Because this is an order appointment, please make sure all decision makers are present. Children are always welcome, but many parents elect to get a babysitter.

I ask for full payment for your order at the image review and order appointment.  You may pay with cash, check or credit card.  Depending on what you order, your portraits and products will be ready for pick-up about 2-4 weeks after the order is complete.  You will only get top quality products from me, but this takes time and I promise it will be worth the wait!

If this type of personal portrait experience interests you, please give me a call to setup a complimentary consultation!
